Last year, I signed up for the A24 Membership when the monthly cost was $5. For the price it was a great deal. As of December, A24 relaunched their membership and in doing so the monthly cost doubled. With the change they added new perks, but is it worth the price jump? With that in mind, I wanted to give a breakdown of the new membership to decide if it is still worth the cost.
The Perks
Every month your account is given a $5 credit. This can be used in the A24 Shop or on the A24 App. In addition, you get a 10% discount to use in the A24 Shop. These discounts can also be applied to the member exclusive merch items that they offer as well.
Another fun perk is that you get a birthday gift. This isn’t just a run of the mill birthday freebie either. You get to choose from a rotating selection of books, soundtracks, merch items, or a gift card. This is definitely something I’m most looking forward to this year.
In addition to the perks above, you receive a quarterly zine. Each one is themed around an A24 film that has recently released. On occasion, they include a little extra item. For example, a small poster or (in Heretic’s case) a blueberry pie scratch and sniff card. You also gain access to exclusive behind the scenes bonus content and interviews available only on the A24 App. Screenings, scratch-offs, giveaways and more are also available to those who sign up to receive text messages from A24.
Lastly the newest addition and the likely cause for the price hike is a free movie ticket to every new A24 release. This is honestly a great deal. The only downside is that it is only available to be used the opening weekend of the film you are seeing. This would make it so you would have to work your schedule around attending said film. The current participating theaters are AMC, Regal, Marcus, and Alamo Drafthouse. If you do not have one of those theaters near you that is something to consider.
The Verdict
With the perks in mind, is the membership worth having even with the price hike? I would say yes but with a few caveats because I realize a $10 monthly membership is not the most affordable. If you already plan to attend every new A24 film release and live by a participating theater this is a great deal. You would save money on ticket costs while also receiving the additional perks they offer. I personally plan to keep my membership. I may reevaluate down the line depending on how much use I get out of it, but I do think the price is fair for what they are offering.

Over the years, movies have given me room to express myself and have helped me to find community. Currently I find myself watching primarily horror/thrillers (David Cronenberg and David Lynch have my heart) but I also love Studio Ghibli and have a special place in my heart for Star Wars and the MCU. When I’m not watching movies, I’m either thrifting physical media, adding to my Scarlet Witch collection or working my retail job.
My Favorite Movies: The Mummy (1999), Clue, Howl’s Moving Castle, IT (1990), and Mamma Mia
