Good Will Hunting is a truly phenomenal film that showcases some of the best acting of this generation. In addition, It’s also my favorite film of all time. I’ve always wondered what a second film to the iconic first would be like. So, I turned to my good friend ChatGPT to see what AI thinks a sequel would be like. While some of the dialogue is a little weird, I actually appreciated the concept that ChatGPT attempted to capture. Here’s what it gave me.
THE SCRIPT
FADE IN:
EXT. A PARK IN BOSTON – DAY
A group of KIDS play basketball in the park. A car pulls up, and out steps a now 40-year-old WILL HUNTING. He’s dressed in a suit, looking sharp.
Will approaches the basketball court, where one of the kids recognizes him.
KID:
Hey, aren’t you the guy from the newspapers? The one who solved that impossible math problem?
WILL:
(smiling)
Yeah, that was a long time ago.
Will watches the kids play for a moment, then addresses them.
WILL:
Listen, I’m here to see if any of you guys want to learn how to play for real. I can teach you some moves that will make you unstoppable.
The kids look at each other, then nod excitedly.
KID 2:
Let’s do it!
Will joins the kids on the court, and the group starts to play.
CUT TO:
INT. A CLASSROOM – DAY
Will stands at the front of the classroom, looking out at a group of ADULTS. He’s now a professor at MIT, teaching advanced mathematics.
WILL:
And that’s the theory behind the problem. Now, let’s try a few examples.
The students begin to work on the problems, and Will walks around the room, helping them.
CUT TO:
EXT. A LAKESIDE COTTAGE – DAY
Will sits on the porch of a cottage overlooking a lake. A car pulls up, and out steps a now 35-year-old SKYLAR.
She approaches Will, and they hug.
SKYLAR:
It’s good to see you.
WILL:
(smiling)
It’s good to see you too.
They sit on the porch and catch up, talking about their lives and careers.
SKYLAR:
You know, I always wondered what happened to you after we went our separate ways.
WILL:
(chuckles)
Well, I went on to do some pretty amazing things.
They continue to talk as the sun sets behind them.
FADE TO BLACK.
Then, as I usually do, I asked ChatGPT to cast the film it created. This is what our AI friend decided on as a cast list for Good Will Hunting 2.

It’s interesting that ChatGPT decided to cast Lambeau twice, but hey to each AI their own. I also like how they added three new, named characters that they would add in as new characters to this film, yet didn’t mention them in the original script.
FINAL THOUGHTS
I’d give anything to see Matt Damon and Ben Affleck reprise their roles from Good Will Hunting. And I think a concept like could be interesting enough to make it happen. Hopefully the powers that be see this and take action.
