The Ghost with the Most: Beetlejuice 2

FADE IN:

EXT. WINTER RIVER BRIDGE – DAY

A foggy morning. We see the Winter River Bridge, covered in ice and snow. A sign reads “Welcome to Winter River, Home of Beetlejuice”. Suddenly, a red sports car zooms by and crosses the bridge.

INT. SPORTS CAR – DAY

We see a gloved hand on the steering wheel. The driver wears a black suit and a white shirt. His face is hidden behind a black and white striped scarf.

DRIVER (to himself) This place hasn’t changed a bit. Still as dead as ever.

The driver turns up the radio. We hear the song “Day-O (The Banana Boat Song)”.

DRIVER (singing) Day-O, Day-O, daylight come and me wan’ go home…

Suddenly, the car hits a bump and the cassette player ejects the tape. The driver puts the tape back in and hits the play button. But instead of “Day-O”, we hear a voice.

VOICE (V.O.) Hey, buddy! You’re not supposed to be here.

The driver looks around, confused. He realizes the voice is coming from the car stereo.

DRIVER What the…?

VOICE (V.O.) I said, you’re not supposed to be here. This is the Neitherworld, and you’re a living person.

DRIVER Neitherworld? Living person? What are you talking about?

VOICE (V.O.) You know exactly what I’m talking about. You’re not fooling anyone with that scarf.

The driver takes off the scarf, revealing his face. It’s BEETLEJUICE, looking just as mischievous as ever.

BEETLEJUICE Well, well, well. If it isn’t my old pal, the living guy. What brings you to my neck of the woods, huh?

I have been watching movies my whole life and fell in love at an early age. I was entranced by the ability for a film to whisk me away to a different universe, and that really started with the Star Wars Franchise. I'm by no means an expert and can roll with opinions that might be controversial, but that's the beauty of a film; we can all see the same thing on screen, but each of us may come away with a different interpretation of what we saw. When I'm not watching movies, I work in Marketing with my degree from Western New England University.
