Dave Filoni Named New Chief Creative Officer of Lucasfilm

Ever since the completion of the “Star Wars” sequels, the Star Wars franchise has been up in the air. With well received additions such Star Wars the Clone Wars Season 7, The Mandalorian and Ahsoka, but also some projects that left fans questioning their allegiance to “Star Wars”. Dave Filoni is the producer to many of these well-liked projects and he is stepping up his role in the universe as the new Chief Creative Officer of Lucasfilm.

Filoni had been serving as the executive vice president of Lucasfilm where he already has much say into the already mentioned shows as well as Kenobi, The Book of Boba Fett and Andor. He now has the ability to create more content along those lines.

There are already multiple projects in the works in the upcoming years. Star War Skeleton Crew comes out next year followed by another standalone The Acolyte. Andor has been already confirmed for a season 2 and there have been talks about a possible second season of the recently well-acclaimed Ahsoka. Dave Filoni is also the director for the New Republic film that connects the stories and events between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens.

One thing that seems to make Filoni loved by the fans is his ability to cater to them. Hayden Christensen recently reprised his role as Anakin Skywalker in Kenobi as well as Ahsoka and is in talks with continuing his involvement in the franchise. He was received very well by the fans so Filoni and Co. might take that into consideration.

What do you think? Will this promotion set up future success for “Star Wars”? Will he eventually end up the president of Lucasfilm? Or will they run into the same problem as Marvel and release too many projects all at once?

Watching movies to me, is like entering another world. Some people can sit down and watch a 2 hour long film but others prefer to binge watch a tv show that has 40 minute long episodes. For me, well I love both. I am a huge fan of fantasy movies such as Lord Of The Rings, Star Wars and Harry Potter, though I tend to stray to different genres here and there, mainly historical dramas and 80s slashers. When I am not watching movies, I’m either at the gym, the mountains, or working as a veterinary technician. See my Letterboxd: ‎ MY FAVORITE MOVIES: Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, There Will Be Blood, Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, The Last of the Mohicans, Schindler's List
